Water, wind, sun, biomass and geothermal energy. Will these renewable energies determine our future? These sustainable energy sources are available to us in almost unlimited amounts. But how can we use them best? Our planet is like an island, limited in space and resources. Renewable energies are available everywhere but, depending on the location, have advantages as well as disadvantages: e.g. solar cells take up large areas, windmills stop turning in calm weather. For a reliable energy supply the different kinds of renewable energies have to be combined. |
| Nine Science Centres, Children´s museums, hands-on museums and a lot of different experts have been exchanging ideas and know-how within a international Network on the topic of renewable energy since April 2008. This partnership has now resulted in the building of a brand new bespoke exhibition which explores five types of renewable energy in an exciting and informative way. |

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to learn about the different types of renewable energy and the benefits and problems of each. With this knowledge they will then be able to play a game which allows them to control the Energy Island attempting to provide enough energy to meet its needs.

|
Interactive exhibits will help children and adults discover more about renewable energy and help better prepare them for the future on our island Earth.
